What Does Air Duct Cleaning in Herculaneum Include?

A Herculaneum duct clean takes in the trunk line, every branch off it, both supply and return sides, all registers and grilles, and the blower and air handler themselves.

Doing half of it achieves nothing lasting. Anything left in an untouched return is pulled straight back through the runs that were just cleaned.

We photograph inside the ductwork at the start and again at the finish. You end the day looking at your own system rather than taking our word for what changed.

What Comes Out of a Herculaneum Duct System?

It depends almost entirely on the age of the house. Newer builds on the edge of town give up ordinary settled dust and pet hair. The older housing closer to the river tends to hold a heavier, greyer layer that has been accumulating since long before anyone thought to look.

What Do Herculaneum Customers Say?

Being the local firm in Jefferson County means most of this work arrives by word of mouth, which is a harder audience than a stranger from out of town.

SafeAir was recommended to me by word of mouth, a client of mine who suffered indoor allergies like my husband for the last year. We could not find a source of black mold anywhere, but his symptoms suggested it was there. We checked the attic (nope), bought four air purifiers and kept fresh filters, we use hospital grade MERV filter in our furnace, we cleaned regularly. Nothing was helping. I knew it had to be in the HVAC system somewhere but wasn't sure who to call. I am so grateful I called SafeAir. They were upfront with their services, pricing, and scheduling. They were clear on instructions we could do to prepare ahead of time (move furniture from vents). They arrived in the estimated window given, and our 3 technicians were methodical and thorough. Their crew lead Brendon M was well trained and well-spoken. He could answer all questions we had, was honest about what he found, what options were available to address the problem, the cost, and any veteran/military discount available. Most importantly, they found the source of the black mold effecting my husband so badly. It was inside the furnace itself and blew spores through the house before being caught by our MERV filter. The work to clean out debris, sanitize the ducts, seal nicotine tar from previous owners, and finally install an anti mold UV light inside the furnace took 6 hours rather than the 2-4 estimated but that is on us. We asked for the UV light install towards the end to prevent the black mold from regrowing in a year, and we asked many questions and talked a lot with Brendon and his crew. We are extremely pleased with the service, and the best part: 10 days later, my husband's allergy symptoms are gone! It worked! Thank you so much from us both!

The filth and mold (both black and white in my HVAC is on me. Thanks to the work by SafeAir, no one in the household has a nagging cough anymore. My voice no longer sounds as if I was at a football game last night. Even the dogs eyes are no longer irritated (the veterinarian is impressed and asked for the name of your company). Technicians Arron and Logan advised me each step of the way. I SAW what was in MY system either personally or after they stuck their phone into the part they wanted me to see. So I know, 100%, that what I saw was in my system (not pictures from someone else's home so they could sell me more services). I did have to go with disinfection, but it's been worth it every day to have clean, indoor air. I've been spending my time deep cleaning every room to get anything airborne out of the textiles and upholstery. I will use this service again.

Brandon did an excellent job. He called to let me know he was on the way. Arrived early. Walked me thru house as he counted all vents. Kept me informed of progress. Sent me before and after pictures. And, left absolutely no mess. Pleasure to have him

What Does Residential Duct Cleaning Cover in Herculaneum?

Residential duct cleaning in Herculaneum reaches every supply and return the system will give us access to, plus the trunk, the registers and the blower assembly. The price follows the number of HVAC systems, not the size of the house.

The order of work is fixed, and it is arranged so nothing is left sitting in the trunk, the branches or the blower when we leave.

  • 3,000 CFM negative air on the system for the entire visit rather than only while a brush is turning
  • 175 PSI air whips through every run we can reach, lifting material clear instead of driving it further in
  • Photographs at each stage, which on a house this old is usually the part people remember

Plenty of outfits sell “air duct cleaning” and what they actually clean is whatever is visible from the register. The material sits well past that point, and anything left behind refills the cleaned section in a matter of weeks. All of this is part of the job:

  • Supply ducts
  • Return ducts
  • Main trunk lines
  • Branch lines
  • Supply registers
  • Return air grilles
  • Air Plenum & Blower

On a finished Herculaneum job the usual result is:

  • Extended lifespan of your HVAC system
  • Relief from allergy or asthma symptoms
  • Cleaner surfaces with less dust accumulation
  • Improved HVAC efficiency and airflow
  • Elimination of musty odors from mold or bacteria
  • A healthier, more comfortable home environment

Dirty Dryer Vent

Why Do Herculaneum Dryer Vents Need Cleaning?

A lot of Herculaneum houses are single storey with the dryer against an outside wall, and people assume a short run cannot block. A short run blocks at the far end instead. Wooded and riverside lots bring birds and rodents, and an exterior vent whose flap no longer closes is an open door for both.

  • Eliminates fire hazards by removing flammable lint accumulation
  • Improves dryer efficiency, potentially lowering energy bills
  • Reduces drying times, saving you time and energy
  • Removes musty odors caused by trapped moisture and debris
  • Extends the life of your dryer, avoiding premature replacements

Who Cleans Commercial Ductwork in Herculaneum?

SafeAir Duct Care cleans commercial premises across Herculaneum, from the businesses along Highway 61 to churches, offices and small industrial units. These are usually rooftop systems rather than a furnace in a basement, which changes both the access and the price.

On a commercial building the unit count drives the work far more than the floor area does. Four rooftop units is four systems, cleaned and priced individually, whatever the square footage underneath them.

If the premises cannot be disrupted during opening hours we will work early, late or at a weekend instead. Tell us the window and we build the visit around it.

Commercial Air Duct Cleaning Job

Which Extras Come Up Here?

Nearly every Herculaneum job is a straight duct clean and nothing more. Three extras come up enough to be worth explaining, and the technician tells you on the day whether your system is actually a candidate.

Air Duct Mold Remediation

This is the one that turns up most on the low ground near the creek, where crawl spaces stay damp for months at a time. Once growth is established on a coil or in a return, a straight clean will not hold it, and saying so costs us a sale but saves you a repeat visit.

UV Light Installation

A UV lamp at the air handler stops the coil regrowing between cleans, which matters more on a damp site than a dry one. It plugs into an existing outlet and goes in during the same visit.

Air Duct Sanitizing

Applied once the system is already clean, with an EPA-registered product. It is worth doing where ductwork has carried mould or a persistent smell. On a system that was only dusty it adds nothing.

Why Choose SafeAir?

Why Do Herculaneum Homeowners Choose SafeAir?

Herculaneum homeowners use us because ducts and dryer vents are the entire business and because we are local to Jefferson County rather than driving down from the county line. Nobody arriving at your house is an HVAC salesperson with a vacuum in the back.

Family owned and working out of Imperial since 2002. In Jefferson County the work comes almost entirely from repeat customers and neighbours, which is not something you get away with twice if the first visit was not straight.

The technicians are our employees, NADCA certified, and nothing is farmed out. The person who priced your job is the one who turns up to do it.

We run a Hypervac negative air machine rated at 3,000 CFM and hold the system under negative pressure for the whole visit. In an older house with leaky joints that containment is what decides whether material leaves the property or just moves rooms.

Putting a brush down a duct with no containment does not clean a house, it redistributes it. Under constant negative pressure whatever comes loose has one way out and it leads to the truck.

Crews are on hourly pay, not commission. Nobody standing in your basement earns more by telling you the system needs something it does not.

NADCA publishes a written standard for what a completed cleaning has to achieve. We work to it so there is an outside measure of the job rather than only our say-so.

Members of NADCA

What Does NADCA Membership Actually Buy You?

Membership obliges us to clean the full system to a defined endpoint rather than stopping at the point it starts to look tidy. That gives you a published benchmark to hold the finished job against.

Why Is Herculaneum Ductwork Different?

Herculaneum is an old river town that spent almost its entire existence beside a lead works, and both facts turn up in its houses.

Moses Austin and Samuel Hammond laid the town out in 1808 at the mouth of Joachim Creek, as the shipping point for lead coming out of the mines inland. Shot towers went up on the bluffs in 1809 and 1810, dropping molten lead a hundred and fifty feet into water to form shot. The industry then stayed for two centuries. Doe Run’s smelter, the last primary lead smelter operating anywhere in the United States, did not shut down until 23 December 2013.

  • Houses older than the closure. Any Herculaneum home built before the end of 2013 ran its heating and cooling through years when a working smelter stood inside the town. Whatever settles into ductwork across a stretch that long does not work its way back out on its own.
  • River-bottom damp. The town sits where Joachim Creek meets the Mississippi and the low ground holds moisture well into the year. Damp crawl spaces and basements are where growth gets onto a coil or into a return, and that is a Herculaneum problem far more than a bluff-top one.

It is worth being straight about where our job stops. Cleaning ductwork removes what has settled inside it. That is not lead abatement, which is a licensed specialty, a different discipline with different equipment and different rules. If lead specifically is what worries you, the right first move is testing, not a duct cleaning quote, and we will say so on the phone rather than after taking a deposit.

Businesses, churches and small industrial units in town are handled under commercial air duct cleaning, with the exhaust side under commercial dryer vent cleaning.

What Should a Herculaneum Homeowner Look For?

  • The build year. It is the single most useful thing you can tell us on the phone, because it sets how long the system has been collecting and how much is realistically in there.
  • A crawl space instead of a basement. Crawl spaces on the low ground stay damp, and a return duct running through one takes that moisture straight into the system.
  • Additions. Much of the older housing here has been extended at some point, and the ductwork feeding an addition is usually the least accessible run in the house and the one most often skipped.
  • Exterior vent terminations. On wooded and riverside lots, a dryer or bathroom vent whose flap no longer shuts will eventually hold a nest, and that is a blockage no amount of interior cleaning reaches.

What Does Duct Cleaning Cost in Herculaneum?

Duct cleaning in Herculaneum is priced by the number of HVAC systems rather than by floor area, and most houses in town run a single system.

We put the ranges in writing instead of making you ring to find them out. The regional cost breakdown sets out the ranges and the usual extras. Mention up front whether the ductwork runs through a crawl space, because access is what moves the number here.

Herculaneum is one of the closest towns to our shop, so there is no meaningful travel time built into these jobs. Age is what moves the price here, not distance and not square footage.

Herculaneum Duct Cleaning Questions

A single-system Herculaneum house takes two to four hours with a crew of two or three. Older houses with additions or awkward crawl space runs take longer, which is why we ask about access before quoting rather than after arriving.

Most Herculaneum bookings follow a house purchase, a furnace replacement, or dust that will not stay gone. The usual signs:

  • A filter going dark well before its replacement is due
  • Dust settled again a day or two after the house was cleaned
  • Congestion that clears when you are out and comes back when you are home
  • Any recent building work, because the fine dust goes straight into the returns
  • Dark marks spreading from the edges of the supply registers
  • A musty or scorched smell in the first minutes of a heating cycle

NADCA and EPA figures put a single-system clean between $400 and $1,000 nationally. Herculaneum sits inside that band, with the older housing nearer the top of it simply because there is more to take out.

  • Before we visit: Give us the build year, the number of air handlers and whether the runs go through a crawl space, and we can put a realistic range to it on the phone.
  • On arrival: The technician looks at the actual system, confirms the number with you, and does not start until you have agreed to it.

Three things move a Herculaneum quote:

  1. How old the house is. A system that has been running since before the smelter closed holds considerably more than one fitted in the last ten years.
  2. How reachable the runs are. Ductwork in a tight crawl space or boxed into a finished ceiling can need service openings cut and then sealed again in matching gauge steel.
  3. How many systems there are. Each furnace or air handler is cleaned and priced separately, though most houses here have only one.

Request A Duct Cleaning Estimate.

Tell us the year the house went up and whether the ductwork runs through a crawl space. In Herculaneum those two answers between them settle most of the quote.
